Modern Slavery Statement for Storage Goodmayes
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the approach taken by Storage Goodmayes to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to respect human rights and to take proactive steps to identify, prevent, and address any risk of exploitation connected to our activities.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Storage Goodmayes maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking in all forms. This applies to our own operations, our employees, contractors, agency workers, and every supplier and partner with whom we work. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation that is involved in or turns a blind eye to forced labour, debt bondage, child labour, human trafficking, or any practice that deprives individuals of their liberty or fundamental rights.
All managers are responsible for promoting this zero-tolerance culture and ensuring that decisions relating to procurement, recruitment, and site management reflect our commitment. Any suspected breach is treated seriously, promptly investigated, and may lead to termination of contracts or other appropriate action.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Storage Goodmayes provides storage facilities and related services. Our primary suppliers include providers of construction and maintenance services, security, cleaning, equipment, utilities, technology, and various professional services. While we assess our overall risk of modern slavery as low, we recognise that certain sectors and geographies within supply chains can be more exposed and we act accordingly.
We seek to build long-term relationships with reputable suppliers who share our values and can demonstrate their own commitment to ethical labour practices. We expect transparency from our suppliers about their own supply chains.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are in the process of embedding modern slavery requirements into our supplier selection, onboarding, and review procedures. Suppliers are expected to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws and that they do not use forced, bonded, or involuntary labour.
Where appropriate, we conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with our standards. These may include requesting documented evidence of policies, procedures, and training related to modern slavery, as well as information about how labour is sourced and managed. For higher risk categories of goods or services, we may conduct more detailed checks, seek additional assurances, or require corrective action plans.
Failure to meet our expectations may result in suspension of work, non-renewal of contracts, or termination of the relationship, depending on the seriousness of the issue and the supplier’s willingness and ability to remediate.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Goodmayes encourages the reporting of any concerns relating to modern slavery, human trafficking, or unethical labour practices, whether they relate to our own operations or those of our suppliers. Employees are encouraged to raise concerns with their line manager or another senior manager. Contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders are also encouraged to report any suspicions or issues they encounter.
Reports can be made confidentially. We will investigate all genuine concerns promptly and fairly, taking appropriate action where necessary. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not ultimately substantiated.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks within our business. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, site management, and recruitment, are informed about the signs of modern slavery and the procedures for raising concerns. We aim to ensure that decision-makers understand how their actions can help prevent exploitation in our supply chains.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
Storage Goodmayes recognises that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to reviewing and improving our approach over time. This includes monitoring the effectiveness of our supplier checks, strengthening our contractual requirements, refining our risk assessment processes, and updating our training and guidance materials.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains current, effective, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. Where necessary, we will update our policies and procedures to reflect changes in legislation, risk profiles, or the structure of our business and supply chains.
By publishing this statement, Storage Goodmayes affirms its commitment to acting with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to playing its part in the wider effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking.
